Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council Comhairle Contae Dhún Laoghaire-Rath an Dúin Affordable Housing Scheme 


Applications for Affordable Housing can be made by completing and returning an Application Form which should be read in conjunction with the Affordable Housing Scheme 2010 both of which are available on this website.

There are currently a number of very attractive one, two and three bedroom apartments available for sale, located in private developments throughout Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Council’s administrative area.

In the majority of cases mortgage finance will be made available to eligible applicants by private lending institutions. However, the Council also provide mortgages through its Home Purchase Loan and Shared Ownership Schemes.

To Qualify for an Affordable Home

 you should:

  •  be a first time buyer (certain exceptions apply); 
  •  be in full time employment for at least 6 months or self employed for at least 2 years; and where the repayments on a retail mortgage to suit your “accommodation needs” would exceed 35% of your annual income (net of income tax and pay related social insurance).

Examples of Homes Previously Provided

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has sold over 450 homes to eligible families and individuals since the scheme was introduced.  Recently a number of one, two and three bedroom dwellings have been sold in developments at Wyckham Point, Dundrum; Beacon South Quarter, Sandyford; and Goatstown Close, Goatstown; for prices at least 20% below the market price.
